RESIGNATION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS -
The Friends of Northwood House & Park committee wish to announce to
its members the resignation of 6 out of the 8 current committee members
(including those of Chair and Treasurer / Membership Secretary). This decision
has not been taken lightly and in NO WAY reflects upon the Friends as an
organisation. Irreconcilable differences with the Trust have made our job
as a committee very difficult and we feel we can no longer continue in our
role. WE HAVE NOT RESIGNED AS FRIENDS OF NORTHWOOD HOUSE & PARK WE HAVE ONLY RESIGNED FROM COMMITTEE.
We thank Janet Allan for the professional manner in which she has conducted
herself as our nominated Trustee and we would like to thank Maggie Ankers
for being the public face and driving force behind both the Friends and
the Trust for so many years.
If any member of the Friends wishes to join the committee please email Janet
Allan extexjan@yahoo.co.uk we wish any new committee success and they have
our full 100% support.
The Friends met with the Charities Commission last month to discuss the
proposed new ‘Amended Scheme’ and were very disappointed to be informed
that any new scheme would over ride the original 1929 Deed of Gift. Sometime
during the next few weeks a draft Amended Scheme will be drawn up and put
out to public consultation and we would urge the Trust to hold a series
of public meetings to discuss the implications these changes will have to
both the House / Park and any future possible development.
We urge members of the Friends to attend any meetings which may be held
and to encourage members of the public to do likewise.
We believe with the right management structure in place Northwood House
has a long and viable long term future.

". . . Old buildings are not ours. They belong, partly to those who built them, and partly to the generations of mankind who are to follow us. The dead still have their right in them: That which they labored for . . . we have no right to obliterate." "What we ourselves have built, we are at liberty to throw down. But what other men gave their strength, and wealth, and life to accomplish, their right over it does not pass away with their death . . ."
